The Stoneware's Life Cycle
-
Clay selection
We begin with locally selected clays chosen for color, plasticity and durability.
-
Throwing & forming
Pieces are thrown on the wheel or hand-built, then refined while leather-hard.
-
Trimming & refining
Edges are smoothed, bases are trimmed, and details are worked by hand for balance.
-
Bisque firing
The pieces go into the kiln for the first firing to prepare the surface for glaze.
-
Glazing
Glazes are hand-applied; variations are embraced as marks of the handmade.
-
Final firing & finishing
High-temperature firing gives the stoneware its strength and brings the glaze to life.
